The main activities of the group are to:
- Promote the benefits of Towneley Park for all visitors and users.
- Contribute to events in the Park.
- Meet and discuss with Park users, issues relating to the Park.
- Help maintain and improve all aspects of the Park.
- Support the Council’s role in the Park.
- Publicise the Park.
- Help improve visitors’ understanding and enjoyment of the Park’s heritage.
The Friends of Towneley Park normally meet four times a year to organise activities and events which are available to all who care about Towneley Park. We hold our Annual General Meeting in October, and other meetings in January, April and July.
The Maintenance & Improvement Group (MIG) meet every Thursday morning at 10am for a couple of hours to help maintain the park and make it somewhere that people want to spend time. You don’t need to be an expert gardener to join us, just bring your time, enthusiasm, and don’t be afraid to maybe get muddy. There’s a brew and a biscuit waiting afterwards.
