The main activities of the group are to:

  • Promote the benefits of Towneley Park for all visitors and users.
  • Contribute to events in the Park.
  • Meet and discuss with Park users, issues relating to the Park.
  • Help maintain and improve all aspects of the Park.
  • Support the Council’s role in the Park.
  • Publicise the Park.
  • Help improve visitors’ understanding and enjoyment of the Park’s heritage.

Members meet four times a year to organise activities and events which are available to all who care about Towneley Park.

Want to Join Us?

The Friends group is a registered charity whose purpose is to improve the facilities and the environment of Towneley Park by working in partnership with Burnley Borough Council.

Towneley Hall – temporary closure

Towneley Hall is temporarily closing from 17th June until Spring 2025 to allow the completion of essential repairs and restoration works. The shop, toilets, lecture theatre, Museum of Local Crafts & Industries (behind the Hall) and Park Life Café will all remain open. Please help us spread the word!

On our final weekend of the Hall being open, entry will be free of charge for everyone! Opening times are 12-5pm (the last entry is 4pm). We will be closed from Monday 17th June so take one last look around the Hall until it re-opens it all its glory in Spring 2025.
